BFL has signed undefeated featherweight prospect Kyle Nelson to a multi-fight, multi-year exclusive deal.
MMASucka.com learned of the signing on Monday afternoon.
“I have had a really hard time getting a fight over the last year,” Nelson told MMASucka.com. “So when BFL offered a fight I jumped on it.”
Nelson (6-0) will take on fellow undefeated fighter and current featherweight kingpin Jeremy Kennedy in the BFL 37 main event. The Huntsville, Ontario native hasn’t fought since May 2014, however that was an impressive 42-second submission finish against Ainsley Robinson at Substance Cage Combat 2.0.
The 24-year-old doesn’t plan on heading back to Ontario empty handed after his July 25 battle.
“For 2015 I want to start with taking home the BFL belt. Then I would like to defend it two or three times.”
Most fighters who are looking to get up to the big show don’t like to sign exclusive contracts — for Nelson it doesn’t matter. The fact that he hasn’t been able to find fights, makes this Battlefield Fight League deal a no-brainer.
“I’m just excited to be fighting, so I don’t care if its exclusive.”
