Rival 185-pounders Justin Lansing and John Elam have agreed in principle to square-off in the co-main event slated for Friday October 15th at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC.
The bout is sure to be an explosive match with many transitions on the mat as both fighters
Are more accustomed to looking for the big submission victory.
Elam (3-0) has enjoyed a stellar 2010 schedule, one that saw him go from unfulfilled prospect to serious
Threat. The Spokane, Washington, product had rattled off a two fight winning streak-all of them by stoppages, earning himself a spot in the Strikeforce Challengers under card. Elam faced a highly regarded
Franki Orr of AMC Pankration and dominated the first and the third round to earn a decision victory. Elam shared his thoughts on his upcoming bout with Lansing “I think that he may want to exchange a little bit, to surprise me. But, actually, both essences are Jiu-Jitsu. I think that this fight might go to the ground anyway, which is good for both of us”.
Lansing (1-0) is a high level grappler and an accomplished student of Marcus Soares. Lansing earned himself submission of the night honours in his Battlefield debut last month, pulling off a very impressive submission transitioning a triangle into an armbar.
Lansing spoke to Battlefield staff about his training and the middleweight is “training as if it were the most important fight in my life.”
“The preparation is very good. I’m training Jiu-Jitsu, emphasizing the striking, training here and there”, Lansing said, ready for a great fight against Elam. “I know Elam is very good and im preparing myself for a complete opponent. “
