Brothers pumped for prime opportunity

Brothers Cam and Stuart Deleurme ready for Battlefield Return on January 15th, 2011

Though they come from the same camp in the same town, they are two different personalities.
Yet these two fighters have a common goal – a successful and lasting impression in their 2nd Battlefield outings.
Cam and Stuart Deleurme are both slated to step into the Battlefield Cage for the second time at BFL 5, and while both have clear intentions on coming out on top in their respective matchups, they certainly have different outward approaches.
Stuart Deleurme (3-1), who will lock it up with Bryce Gougeon (3-0-1) in a Welterweight Bout, has a quiet demeanour and while excited about the opportunity before him, has a much more laid-back approach. Cameron (5-1), who will headline the card in a fight against Gary Mangat (6-2) for the Featherweight Championship, has a splash personality that is sure to endear him with the Battlefield crowd.
While their avenue towards pre-fight hype differs, both have a desire to show their worthy of the opportunity on the big stage.
“I believe strongly in my grappling. I want to finish the fight similar to my last fight,” declared the 19-year-old, whose record includes a pair of first-round stoppages including one over Battlefield veteran Ben Cote.
“That’s how I go about things. I want to get in there and if I can finish the fight early, all the better. I just bring it and if I see a finish, I go for it. I’m focused on what I want to do and that’s finish the fight.”
Sturart Delerume will get the biggest test of his career against Gougeon who will have a striking advantage in this fight. Yet the 19-year-old Kelowna native has a quiet confidence about him.
“I’m ready to take things to the next level and I know I have to take him very seriously,” said Stuart. “I think I just have to stick with the game plan and put him in bad positions where he can’t be dangerous. I have to control him to win, put him in bad spots, keep the pressure on, and finish it.”
Stuart Deleurme has the added incentive for his fight against Gougeon as the first bout on the Main Card televised on the fight network.
“When I got the call I was very excited. To be the first fight on TV, to get that opportunity, I feel very fortunate because that kind of thing doesn’t come along very often,” he said. “Now I want to put on a good show and prove to everyone that I was there for the right reason.”
Cam Delerume, meanwhile, will be out to prove that he is one of the county’s top fighters in his weight class by capturing the Battlefield featherweight title. Confidence is not an issue for the five-foot-nine Delerume who is counting on all the experience he has gained in his past 6 fights. A member of RDC/Team Havoc in Kelowna, Cam is considered one of the top fighters out of a stacked camp which is also home to talented fighters Matt Dwyer, Chris Day and Stuart Delerume.

“It’s a big deal to be fighting for the Battlefield Belt but I’m not worried about the nerves or the pressure,” maintained Delerume. “I’m really excited and I’ve increased my training because of it. I’m putting in the extra effort because it’s going to be such a big night.”
Stuart Delerume vs. Bryce Gougeon has been added to an already stacked card for Battlefield 5. Featured matchups include:
Cam Delerume (RDC) vs. Gary Mangat (Revolution) for the vacant Battlefield Featherweight Title
Ash Mashreghi (Revolution) vs. Jacen Brooks (WCBJJ) For the Battlefield Welterweight Title
