For most fighters, the goal of one day fighting in the UFC feels like only a dream. For Adam “Primetime” Posener, that goal is quickly becoming a realistic next step. Focused and determined, Posener is quickly making a name for himself in Canada’s MMA scene one fight at a time.
From High School Graduate to Cage Fighter
Posener’s story begins the way many fighters do, with pure passion.
“I’ve watched it for a long time, been around it for a long time. So I decided to give it a go and then you know, a lifetime later here we are.”
That “lifetime” began right after graduation. “I had my first fight literally a month after I graduated high school, when I was growing up I always wanted to be an MMA fighter.”
Since he was too young to compete in British Columbia at the time, he hit the road early. “I’d be fighting in Alberta, the States, I was basically on the road for my first four amateur fights.” His drive paid off and in his fifth fight he captured the BFL Amateur Title. The first of many accomplishments in his career.

The Birth of ‘Primetime’
Every great fighter needs a cool nickname and for Posener, “Primetime” came from a moment of fun with his friends. “Back when I was younger, one of the UFC games came out. Me and a couple friends created ourselves on career mode and you had to pick a nickname. I was scrolling through and I found ‘Primetime.’”What started as a video game handle soon became a part of who he is. “One of my friends said that in a couple years, it’ll be the Primetime era, and that’s where it kind of started, it just stuck.”
Titles, Tests, and Tough Opponents
From the amateurs and now to his professional career, Posener has faced his fair share of challenges. He describes his toughest tests being in his recent bouts. “I’d definitely say the last three that I fought were the toughest. Trukon Carson was from another very good gym, and if he beat me, he could have very well gotten on the Ultimate Fighter. If Zach Powell beat me, he could have got on the Contender Series. So I beat both of them, and my name’s got to be in that conversation soon, for sure.” In every fight Poesner takes, he is always looking to make a statement, as it is one step closer towards the biggest stage in combat sports.

The Road to the UFC
When asked about his future, Posener didn’t hesitate. “Either The Ultimate Fighter or Contender Series would be okay, but I think Contender Series is the more realistic one for me.” “The Ultimate Fighter is so few and far between, definitely the Contender Series is probably the most realistic option in 2026.”
He has been working towards this goal since the day he started. “If I go out there and I do what I can do and look good doing it, I think then the UFC will definitely know my name”.
Training, Mindset, and Growth
Behind the calm demeanor is a will and drive to never stop improving. “Every camp always improves, I always look back at the training camp and see what went well, what didn’t. I try to fix the things that didn’t go well and maintain the things that did.”
He brings the same mindset to anything he puts his mind to. “With something as big as jiu-jitsu and MMA, there’s always more. You’re always pushing through and trying to find more in it, there’s no real limit.”
The Calm Before the Storm
For Posener, the hardest part of fight night isn’t the fight itself, it’s the anticipation. “The moments before the walkout are definitely nerve-wracking”. “You can’t see the crowd, and you just hear everyone going crazy. But once you get in there, all feelings go away, and you just go out there and do your thing.”
Eyes on the Future
Fighting regularly has always been something Adam has been used to. He fought 4 times in 2023, 4 times in 2024, and has already fought 2 times in 2025 and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. “Yeah, for sure, I’m going to be trying to get at least three a year on average. You can expect that, guaranteed.”
With the UFC being in Vancouver two days after BFL 85, Posener understands how important it would be to get a win in spectacular fashion. “I feel like everything is coming together well. It’s the right card and the right opportunity, I’m really going to show why I’m the next guy from the BFL to go to the big show.”
On October 16th, Posener will take on a fierce competitor in Allan Ruiz. “Pichungas” has a record of 9-5 with 7 of those wins ending in a finish. Known for his aggressive and heavy pressure style, Ruiz can do it all. Whether it is throwing strikes in combination or mixing it up with his exceptional grappling. Allan is dangerous in every aspect of MMA. With a statement victory at BFL 85, Adam Posener will become undeniable. Not only will he show to everyone how good he is, he will also prove that he deserves to be in the UFC.
