Spencer faces Capdeville in BFL8 Co-Mainevent

Hometown Hero Spencer Faces Experienced Capedeville In BFL8 Co-Main Event On May 28th in Nanaimo B.C.

The co-main event at Nanaimo, B.C.’s Battlefield Fight League 8 will
feature hometown favourite, nationally relevant featherweight phenomenon,
Graham Spencer (6-1 1NC) in a tough bout against Vancouver’s Bruno
Capedeville (3-1), who has much more martial arts experience than his short
record suggests.

Trained at Nanaimo’s Impact MMA, Graham Spencer (27) will appear in his
second consecutive co-main event for the organization. Of course, his first
BFL fight at Battlefield Fight League 7 ended in surprising fashion when he
and his opponent fell from cage early round two, leading to a no-contest.
That outcome was particularly unfortunate for Spencer who was in clear
control throughout the bout. Of course, with six wins in his previous seven
career fights, that position was quite familiar for this supremely talented
featherweight.

At BFL8 on May 28th Spencer gets a chance to regain lost momentum, but
must respect the considerable skills of Bruno Capedeville (30), whose poise
and technical prowess were on display during a BFL7 split-decision win over
the tenacious Shawn Albrecht (7-4).

Indeed, Battlefield fans had a great chance to assess Bruno’s skills
during the Albrecht fight and most were clearly impressed by his developing
striking game. After all, being both a brown belt in BJJ under
Bibiano Fernandes (8-3) and a
world-class grappling tournament competitor, Capedeville was expected to be
primarily interested in ground fighting. Nevertheless, he applied pressure
equally in all phases of the fight to convince two judges he was more
effective.

For Bruno Capedeville, who is now reaching his athletic prime, a win
over Graham Spencer in such a high-profile bout would finally put him on the
featherweight map with Canadian MMA fans. That is precisely the outcome
Spencer will be desperate to avoid as he chases his own dreams of continued
national relevance and BFL championship gold.

Battlefield president Jay Golshani summed up the stellar match quite
nicely:

“Bruno is very crafty and skilled on the mat and he could give Graham some
problems with his submission game. Spencer is one of Canada’s top fighters
in his weight class and he is a very tough fight for anyone. Both guys are
hungry and both want a shot at our featherweight title so this is a huge
fight in our featherweight division between two of our top featherweights.”

Both Spencer and Capedeville are undeniably great grapplers, as well as
being truly rounded martial artists. So there’s not much left for fans to do
besides wait patiently and watch for the best man to win come fight night!
